Publications and Forthcoming Publications

Creative Non-fiction
  • The creative non-fiction story, "Just a Small New Year's Resolution," is considered for publication in the anthology, Chickensoup for the Soul: My Resolution
  • Sonja's story about her mother-in-law, "A True Mother," will be published in Chickensoup for the Soul: Divorce and Recovery in October 2008.
  • A short essay, called "Hot Flashes," is now online in the July edition of the women's magazine, Sasee.
  • You can read two of Sonja's stories, "The Van," and a chapter from her book, Tightrope!, called "Mary," in the magazine, Literal Translations. 

  • "An Uncommon Life," the story about Sonja's mother's travels with the carnival while raising six children, will be published in the book, Wisdom of Our Mothers: Things that Mother Taught Me. Look for it in October!
  • "A Time for Healing," A creative non-fiction story about healing old wounds between a mother and child, will be published in the book, I didn't Get Old Being Stupid, slated for publication the end of 2008
  • For the Christmas Season, Sonja wrote a story about her childhood, called, "Letting the Light Shine." It will be published in the anthology, Christmas Traditions: True Stories of Holiday Celebration.
  • An essay, called, "What I Believe," is published on the This I Believe website. Click here to read it: This I Believe.
  • Find a part of Sonja's memoir, Cross and Carnival, about her search for God and how she found Christ, in the anthology, His Forever: Stories of Real People Finding Jesus. Sonja's story is titled, "Finding Christ at the Carnival," and starts on page 139.
  • The essay, "My Mother," is published in the book, Prize Winning Stories.

  •  A part of the memoir, titled, "A Moveable Feast," was also published in Prize Winning Stories.

  • A true story, "Pretty Maidens," about Sonja, her children, and her garden, will appear in the near future in the magazine Greenprints.
Fiction

  • Sonja's two short stories, "The Lie," and "Returning Home," will appear on July 31 in the PDF magazine Flash Me on the Winged Halo website.
  • Sonja's flash fiction story, "Returning Home," won honorable mention at the Glimpse Flash Fiction Contest. Here is the link: "Returning Home"
  • A short children's story was accepted and published on the Internet by the Delaware Art Museum, for their project "The Art of Story Telling." Read it here: The Art of Story Telling
  • The very short story, "Lies," won honorable mention in the short story writing contest at  nebpublishing.com.
  • "Kristallnacht," chapters one and two, and "Emma," chapter 54 of Tightrope!, were published in the book Prize Winning Stories.
